Sodium butyl xanthate is a light gray to yellowish-green powder with a specific odor, highly soluble in water.
Sodium butyl xanthate 90% is used as a collecting reagent in the hydrometallurgical industry and in the process of enrichment of non-ferrous ores and rare metals by flotation. The substance is effective for the flotation of copper and oxidized lead metals after their sulfidization, as well as all sulfides and native copper. In addition, potassium butyl xanthate is used in the rubber industry, printing, hydro- and electrometallurgy.
