Caustic soda grade RD is a colorless or colored liquid, crystallized sediment is allowed. It is an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (a product of the chemical process of diaphragm electrolysis of a solution of table salt).

Caustic soda grade RD is used in the production of viscose silk and in the bleaching of fabrics. It has also found application in soap making, in the aniline dye industry, in the production of aluminum and sodium metal. Alkaline batteries and soluble glasses are also produced using RD grade caustic soda in production. In the chemical industry, caustic soda is used in the production of synthetic phenol, dyes, glycerin, and plastics. RD is also relevant for the purification of petroleum and mineral oils.
